Oor Wee Podcast was created during the pandemic by two friends who love to write music and stories.

Oor Wee Podcast was inspired by 1980s nostalgia for storytelling cassettes and Ladybird books. The stories are original or adapted classics written by Alan and Susi.  The illustrations, soundscape and music production is by Alan McClure.

Alan McClure and Susi Briggs are both authors and storytellers registered with the Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

They could see the need for stories and songs in such troubling times. Also Susi and Alan felt it was time to create new Scots language content for weans.  Mainstreaming programming for children does not include content for Scots speaking weans.

When the pandemic restrictions lifted Alan and Susi co produced the Oor Wee Podcast LIVE show for live audiences. The shows have been popular at festivals, events and schools ever since.

Education Scotland and Oor Wee Podcast are working together to create accessible Scots language education resources for teachers.
